Exchange Online

Microsoft Exchange Online is a hosted messaging solution that supplies the features of Microsoft Exchange Server as a cloud-based service. It gives users single sign-on access to email, calendar, contacts, and tasks from PCs, the web, and mobile devices. It integrates fully with Active Directory to enable administrators to manage Exchange Online capabilities across their situation.

Each user of Exchange Online is assigned to a subscription plan. They are all given their own mailbox, which contains folders and messages. These messages and folders remain on a computer at a Microsoft data center. 

Microsoft Exchange Online supplies users with extensive protection and maintenance over a company’s email infrastructure. Some features include the power to restore delete items and the ability to duplicate mailboxes at data centers.


Mailbox replication at data centers

Many users replicate their Exchange Online at multiple database centres, meaning they are spread over wide areas. This means it is easy for the company to restore their data system if the infrastructure were to ever fail.


Deleted mailbox recovery

When a mailbox is deleted, Exchange Online keeps the mailbox and its contents backed up on the system for 30 days. Once these 30 days have passed, the content’s loss is irretrievable. Administrators can recover deleted mailboxes within this timeframe. They can restore the Office 365 account and reassign its Exchange Online license.


Deleted item recovery

Once an item is deleted, it moves to the user’s Deleted Items folder. It will remain there until the user does something with it, of the item is automatically removed with the Deleted Items folder after 30 days. Once removed from the Deleted Items folder, the item is kept in a Recoverable Items folder for an extra 14 days. Users can recover the item from this folder within the timeframe.
